What it does

The request is yours to shape

Choose the method, the headers and whether the body is JSON or form-encoded, so the endpoint you already have does not have to change.

Secrets stay on the server

Authorisation headers are stored write-only and attached as the request leaves, so a token is never part of anything the browser can read.

Retries with backoff

A 5xx or a timeout is retried on a widening delay. The attempt history stays on the entry, so a flaky endpoint is visible rather than silent.

Open your form in the block editor and add the Webhooks delivery.

Set the URL, the method, any headers, and pick JSON or form encoding.

Ask support

Can it call an endpoint on my own network?

Only if that host is reachable from your web server and allowed by WordPress’s own HTTP rules. Requests to private addresses are blocked by default.

How many times does it retry?

A few, on a widening delay, and then it stops and records the failure. A 4xx is not retried because repeating a rejected request will not change the answer.

Can I verify the request came from my site?

Yes. Add a shared secret as a header and check it at your endpoint.

Does the response body get stored?

The status code and a short excerpt are kept on the entry, which is enough to debug without turning your entries table into a log store.
